A Shiny Favorite

I’ll admit I was not one to window shop for wedding and engagement rings before I got married or get really giddy thinking about what my ring would look like. So I was very fortunate my husband picked out a really beautiful art deco replica from Leigh Jay & Co in the NYC Diamond District that i absolutely loved. Unfortunately, a few years ago right before we moved back to NYC from Maine my rings were stolen. It was a tough blow but I still remain thankful no one was home when it happened! After using the Catbird Tomboy Ring as a placeholder for the last few years my husband gifted me with a beautiful sapphire ring from Margaret Cross Jewelry this past Christmas. I love her work so much that I wanted to share it with you all.

Margaret Cross is known for making memorial and hairwork mourning jewlery like this one below which allows you to carry on the memory of a loved one after they pass (you might remember this tradition from the Victorian Era). And it’s all made in Brooklyn using ethically sourced stones and recycled metals!

She also offers a plethora of other every day rings, necklaces and earrings but I am very much drawn to her take on wedding jewelry.

I’d love to post more but you really should just head over to her online shop and check it all out yourself. And if you find yourself in the Lower East Side - Love Adorned also carries some of her jewelry and is where my ring was purchased. They have an incredible selection of small shiny things you can wear on your skin!
